Disconnecting is not revoking approval

A website connection and an onchain allowance live in different places.

LET’S PICTURE IT

Closing a shop’s website does not automatically cancel a permission document you already signed and registered elsewhere.

An address is public receiving information. It is not the private key that authorizes actions.

Animated local teaching model. No wallet, RPC or live blockchain data. Some labels and hashes are abbreviated for readability.

Connection is an interface relationship

Disconnecting can stop a site from using a wallet connection under the wallet’s permission system. It may remove convenient account access in that browser. It does not rewrite past transactions or network state.

An allowance is contract state

An ERC-20 approval can grant a spender permission to move tokens within an allowance. That record belongs to the token contract’s state, not merely to an open browser tab. Closing the tab leaves that record as it was.

Revocation requires the relevant action

Changing an allowance usually involves an authorized contract interaction on the appropriate network. Other signature-based permissions can have different cancellation mechanisms. There is no universal disconnect button that cancels every kind of permission.

Read exactly what was granted

Review the token, spender, network and amount. The ABI lab can show how approve differs from transfer without executing anything. Use the token lesson to connect a wallet prompt with the contract-level permission it describes.
