Use a fictional receipt to connect status, gas and block context.
LET’S PICTURE IT
A practice receipt lets you learn the labels before you need to interpret a real payment under pressure.

Finalize
Maya prepares an instruction: send 0.01 pretend ETH to Leo.
A local simulation. Nothing is signed or sent to a network.
Start with a clearly labeled example
Imagine a fictional simple transfer receipt with status 1, gas used 21000 and effective gas price 12000000000 Wei. These values are teaching inputs, not retrieved chain data. A real receipt also identifies its transaction and block.
Interpret status precisely
Status 1 means the top-level execution succeeded under the relevant rules. It does not prove that the destination was the person you intended or that the transaction was a sensible economic choice.
Calculate the execution fee
Multiply 21000 by 12000000000 Wei to get 252000000000000 Wei. The exact converter displays this as 0.000252 ETH. Do not multiply by cumulative gas used from the block instead.
Ask about finality separately
The block hash tells you which block this receipt belongs to. You still need the chain’s accepted and finalized view to assess settlement. A successful receipt and a finalized block answer different questions.
