The native amount sent and the cost of execution are separate.
LET’S PICTURE IT
A parcel can contain a gift while postage pays the delivery service. The value of the gift is not the postage bill.

Calculate and split a manual execution feeStep 1 / 4
This example supplies twenty-one thousand gas used. It is a simple teaching input, not a live estimate of a contract call.
This example supplies twenty-one thousand gas used. It is a simple teaching input, not a live estimate of a contract call. With base ten Gwei, priority cap two and total cap twenty, the effective rate is twelve Gwei per gas.Twenty-one thousand times twelve Gwei gives two hundred fifty-two thousand Gwei, or 0.000252 ETH.The base-fee component is 0.00021 ETH and is burned. The priority component is 0.000042 ETH for the block fee recipient.

Value describes native asset movement
A transaction value is specified in Wei. For a simple transfer, it describes the ETH sent to the destination. In a contract interaction, the code can use the received value under its rules.
Fees pay for execution
Used gas multiplied by effective gas price determines the execution-fee component. In standard EIP-1559 accounting, that price includes a burned base fee and an effective priority fee. Other transaction or network fee components can require separate treatment.
Zero value can still matter
An ERC-20 transfer can have zero native ETH value while moving tokens through contract state. An approval can have zero value while granting a spender permission. Both can still require ETH for execution fees.
Check a sample budget
A successful simple 0.01 ETH payment with a 0.000252 ETH execution fee costs the sender 0.010252 ETH in those two components. This example assumes that simple native transfer and supplied fee values; it is not a live quote.
