An amount needs a destination, network and authorization context.
LET’S PICTURE IT
A delivery note needs more than “send three boxes.” It needs the address, contents and delivery conditions.

Finalize
Maya prepares an instruction: send 0.01 pretend ETH to Leo.
A local simulation. Nothing is signed or sent to a network.
Begin with the intended result
Suppose Maya wants Leo to receive 0.01 ETH on Ethereum mainnet. The intended asset, network and recipient come first. A correct address on a different network is not automatically an equivalent destination.
Translate the amount into Wei
0.01 ETH is 10000000000000000 Wei. A native transfer places that integer in the value field. A token transfer instead typically places its token recipient and raw amount inside calldata sent to the token contract.
Add transaction-specific fields
The wallet prepares a nonce and appropriate fee fields, among other data. Those settings affect whether the instruction can be accepted and included. A fee estimate is separate from the payment value and does not guarantee a final cost.
Review before signing
The signature authorizes the prepared transaction. Compare the network, account, recipient and amount before approving. Our local transaction picture is a teaching model; it never prepares or broadcasts an actual signed payment.
