A token’s owner record and its descriptive data are separate claims.
LET’S PICTURE IT
A library inventory register and a book’s catalog description can be maintained in different places.

A valid counter call, step by stepStep 1 / 4
This example begins with count zero and a request to call increment(). No real contract is deployed.
This example begins with count zero and a request to call increment(). No real contract is deployed.Execution follows the code’s input and permission rules. A website button is not the access-control mechanism. The function reads zero, calculates zero plus one, and writes one to persistent storage. The accepted state contains count one. Later reads can inspect it. Events are emitted only if the code implements them.

Ownership is an onchain relation
A contract can record who owns an item or how many units an account holds. That record follows the implementation’s update rules. It need not include all the images and descriptive text a website displays.
Metadata describes the item
A metadata reference can identify a document containing names, attributes or media links. Those references may lead to another system. Their availability and mutability depend on how they are stored and controlled.
A changed image need not change the owner
An administrator or external hosting change might alter displayed content while the onchain ownership record stays unchanged. Conversely, ownership can transfer without changing the same media reference.
Check the claim you care about
For ownership, inspect the relevant contract state. For media permanence or content, examine the metadata and hosting mechanism. Neither a pretty thumbnail nor a token ID alone answers both questions.
QUICK CHECK · NO PRESSURE
Can displayed metadata change while the onchain owner stays the same?
Metadata control and ownership state can be separate mechanisms.
