Interest rate models at a glance

A rate can depend on pool state and a contract-defined formula.

LET’S PICTURE IT

A rental service can change its quoted rate as more of its inventory is in use.

This example begins with count zero and a request to call increment(). No real contract is deployed.

The model supplies the rule

A lending protocol can calculate interest using utilization or other inputs. Some designs have distinct regions or parameters. The term interest rate does not identify one formula across every application.

Displayed rates are contextual

A current annualized display can describe an instantaneous or historical model value. It is not automatically a fixed return promised for a year. Compounding and fee assumptions also affect interpretation.

Accounting representation matters

Contracts can update indexes, shares or accumulated debt rather than writing every account balance every second. Integer precision and update timing influence exact results.

Read assumptions before comparing

Compare the asset, network, rate definition, time basis and risks. A high displayed number alone does not explain expected outcomes or justify an investment.

QUICK CHECK · NO PRESSURE

Does a current variable annualized rate guarantee that exact return for the next year?
