Price inputs can determine borrowing, liquidations and swaps.
LET’S PICTURE IT
A cashier using the wrong price board can follow the arithmetic perfectly and still produce the wrong economic outcome.

Receive, check and share across independent nodesStep 1 / 4
A node receives a proposed transaction or block-related message. Receipt is not the same as accepting its claims.
A node receives a proposed transaction or block-related message. Receipt is not the same as accepting its claims. The node checks the relevant authorization and protocol rules. Popularity does not make an invalid state transition valid.Valid candidate data can propagate to peers. Connections and timing differ, so there is no perfect simultaneous worldwide view.Peers validate under the same protocol rules. This illustration is about verification and propagation, not a complete proof-of-stake consensus algorithm.

The application needs a reference
A contract may need to compare two assets or decide whether collateral is sufficient. Its oracle mechanism supplies a value under an explicit data and verification process.
Freshness and units matter
A signed or authenticated value can still be stale or interpreted with the wrong decimal scale. A correct signature does not automatically establish that the price is timely or appropriate.
Manipulation resistance depends on design
A spot quote from a thin market can have different properties from an aggregate or time-based mechanism. The contract must use the intended source and handle exceptional conditions.
Trace the consequences
Ask which actions use the value and how a bad input propagates. Learning the ABI shape helps inspect a call, while assessing oracle safety needs implementation and market context.
QUICK CHECK · NO PRESSURE
Does a validly signed price automatically prove it is fresh?
Authorization and timestamp/freshness checks are distinct requirements.
