Place a decoded log inside its emitter and receipt context.
LET’S PICTURE IT
A movement record needs its filing context as well as its fields.
SEE IT FOR YOURSELF
From an emitted Transfer event to a receipt logStep 1 / 4
A token implementation may update balances and emit its standard Transfer event. State and the emitted record are related but distinct.
A token implementation may update balances and emit its standard Transfer event. State and the emitted record are related but distinct.A non-anonymous Transfer event uses the full thirty-two-byte Keccak-256 signature digest as topic zero, not a four-byte function selector. In the common ERC-20 shape, from and to occupy topics one and two. The raw value is a thirty-two-byte data word. Other standards can index fields differently. An application can decode receipt logs under the correct ABI. A matching signature does not establish that an unknown emitter is an honest token.
Animated local teaching model. No wallet, RPC or live blockchain data. Some labels and hashes are abbreviated for readability.
Select the exact log
A receipt can contain several emitters and event types. Identify the intended token address and the common ERC-20 Transfer declaration before assigning field meanings.
Decode topics and data
Topic zero is the full event digest, topics one and two contain indexed addresses, and data contains the raw uint256 amount under this specific declaration.
Explain what remains unknown
The log does not contain token decimals or establish an honest implementation. A local fixture also does not prove real chain inclusion or finality.
Write a bounded result
Report the emitter context, from, to and raw value. Keep display scaling and authenticated block context separate from byte decoding.

Add a known emitter and receipt context before making a real transfer claim.
Use only local examples and public sample addresses. State the assumptions and limits alongside the result.
